The Seabees are a branch of the United States Navy, officially known as the Naval Construction Force (NCF). They are renowned for their expertise in construction, engineering, and building infrastructure in both peacetime and combat situations. The name "Seabee" comes from the initials "C.B.," which stands for "Construction Battalion."

The Seabees were officially formed during World War II, on March 5, 1942, to meet the need for building military bases, airfields, roads, bridges, and other facilities in war zones. Their motto, "We Build, We Fight," aptly describes their dual role. Not only do they construct critical infrastructure, but Seabees are also trained to defend themselves and their construction sites in combat zones.

Seabees have played vital roles in numerous conflicts and operations since World War II, including the Korean War, Vietnam War, Desert Shield/Desert Storm, and more recent operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. Their skills are not limited to combat zones; they also participate in humanitarian missions around the world, providing disaster relief and helping to rebuild communities after natural disasters.

Seabees are known for their can-do spirit, versatility, and ability to accomplish construction projects under challenging conditions. Their contributions go beyond the battlefield, as they have also significantly impacted global humanitarian efforts and infrastructure development in peacetime.
